On the left is the sock I made for my sil - the one I took to her mother's house for Thanksgiving and the one I announced was for someone else. :) The sock on the right is my brother's sock. Both socks were done in Lorna's Laces (Georgetown and Safari) on 1US 12" circulars. See how different the yarn pattern came out?
I had a little more trouble with my stepdad's socks. I was working with guesstimates for length and someone else's measurements. They're a tad big. The orange one had been washed and air dried. The green one I finished Christmas Eve. I'm going to try washing both in the machine and drying to see if that won't help shrink them. (These socks aren't supposed to match... he'll get the matching socks in January for two pairs.) I used Cascade 220 Superwash on 3US 12" circulars in Orange and Green.
This is the hat that I was working on as a surprise. Again, working with guesstimates because I didn't want to ruin the surprise by measuring his head. Unfortunately, by the time we exchanged gifts, the hat was still drying. He tried it on anyway and of course it was too big because it stretched from its dampness. It's dry now and before I rework the hat (to his now recorded measurements) I want to see if it shrank at all. I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in Gray Green, Black and Cream on 7US 16" circulars.
Overall, I'd say everyone was pleased with their knitted items. Maybe they were just being nice though?
You wouldn't think making 4 socks and a hat would take me so long to make but it did. Between ordering sock yarn online and waiting for said sock yarn to arrive, it was months before completion. And I'm not even done! I still have 4 more socks to do! I'd say 4 pairs equals roughly 250,000 stitches. Seriously. 125,000 down, 125,000 to go.
My poor hands.
good blog

That is, indeed, a lot of stitches. I prefer to never know exactly how many I've done/have left to do, since I always fear it will be wickedly demotivating...
I like the mismatched socks, too. :)

I've currently got some LL Georgetown in my stash--from the looks of yours, it's going to knit up beautifully!
Good job on your Christmas knitting! (Mine's still in progress...unfortunately...)
